BASIC Training


BASIC Training is a two-day training based on the BASIC-RTI Implementation Manual. The training offers administrators the practical information necessary to move beyond a basic understanding of what RTI is, to planning for implementation in the real world of your school(s). This intensive, two-day, training combines didactic lecture with hands-on practice and problem-solving to address your district's specific needs.

In order to encourage districts to "start at the top" with RTI
training and planning, we would like to extend the following offers:

  • ALL superintendents can attend free of charge, no strings attached,
    just mark on your registration form that you are a superintendent.

  • Campuses registering 3 or more representatives are invited to send the principal free of charge. Clearly mark on the form that you are a
    principal and the names of the 3 faculty members you are bringing.

  • Districts registering 3 or more administrators are invited to send the
    Assistant Superintendent (or Director) for Curriculum and Instruction
    at no charge. Clearly mark on your registration that you are the
    Assistant Superintendent for C&I and the names of the 3 administrators you are bringing with you.

Each participant receives a copy of the BASIC-RTI Implementation Manual and a note-taking guide, and a compact disk with presentation slides and sample forms.

Beyond Basic Training

Beyond BASIC is a one-day training focused on advanced topics in RTI implementation. Part I of the training provides administrators and district- or campus-leadership teams skills for applying RTI problem solving processes and core concepts to create interventions addressing AYP and PBMAS problem areas.  The afternoon session, Part II, is focused on advanced issues in RTI implementation planning:  scheduling and staffing that make RTI “do-able.”

Ethical Implementation of Response to Intervention Models

This training is for LSSPs and RTI leadership teams and addresses critical ethical issues to be considered in RTI planning and implementation.  Topics addressed in the training include:

Universal Screening and Progress Monitoring:

  • Universal behavior screening:  the PIEMS dilemma
  • Legal requirements for PEIMS reporting
  • Forces that influence PEIMS reporting
